Dear Parents/Guardians,
Firstly, let me welcome you to Scoil / Coláiste Eoin and the beginning of your child’s journey with us.
We hope that they will be very happy here. This letter is to provide you with some important information.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: New students will attend school on Wednesday 27th 2025. All students and parents will attend for 45 minutes at 10am. The students will meet their class teacher and their classmates while the parents can have a chat and a coffee. There will also be an opportunity to complete any necessary forms and purchase a school tracksuit.
TRANSPORT: Please be aware that the school does not organise school transport. This is the sole responsibility of Bus Éireann. The school is not responsible for buses not arriving on time or failing to collect your child. There will be an escort on each bus who will be your first point of contact. The escort’s only responsibility is safety on the bus.
They must not be asked to relay messages to the school or to discuss any school business. It is very important that the escorts are not contacted before 7am or after 6pm. As most of our escorts are SNA’s you may also not contact them during school hours. If you have not heard from Bus Éireann by August 22nd we would advise giving them a call. UNIFORM: Boys wear navy school tracksuit. These are available to purchase from school on August 27th at a cost of €40 each. We would recommend that each student purchase two tracksuits.
Girls have the option of school uniform or tracksuit. Uniform is plain navy skirt, plain white shirt and plain navy cardigan or jumper. These items are available in Dunnes Stores / Marks & Spencer etc.
BOOKS AND STATIONERY: All school books are provided through our school rental scheme. We ask that students respect these books as they will need to be returned in June. Copies, folders, and stationery will be provided to each pupil on the first day of school. SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION FEES: This can be paid through Aladdin or by cash/card on August 27 th . For 2025/26 this fee is €150
TIMETABLE: School begins each day at 8.35 am and finishes at 2.15pm.
SCHOOL LUNCHES: Scoil / Coláiste Eoin provides hot school lunches to each child at midday break. Children should bring a healthy snack for the mid morning break. If your child will not avail of the school lunch, please provide them with their own food. We encourage the students to drink water throughout the day and so we will provide them with their own personalised water bottle which should be filled at home each morning. Fizzy drinks and treats are not allowed during the week. One small treat may be given on a Friday. No student is allowed to leave the school premises for any reason during lunch.
MOBILE PHONES: Scoil / Coláiste Eoin strongly discourages the use of mobile phones. Junior school (Primary & 1 st Years) students are not allowed to take their phones to school. If a phone is discovered, this will be confiscated and only returned to a parent / guardian. 2nd – 6 th Years can bring phones to school but these need to be handed to the class teacher each morning. They are locked away for the day and returned at 2.15. Again, if a student refuses to hand up a phone, it will be confiscated and only returned to a parent / guardian.
COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS/GUARDIANS: The school uses Aladdin to communicate with parents. If your child is absent, please inform the teacher through the Aladdin App. You should have received a link to set yourself up on the Aladdin system. If not please let us know on August 27th . Teachers will also regularly contact parents/guardians by phone so please ensure that the school always has an up to date mobile number for you.
SCHOOL CALENDAR: This will be available shortly on the website
TRIPS AND SPORTS: Scoil / Coláiste Eoin is a very active school and we encourage all students to get involved in as many activities as possible. Throughout the year, your child will take part in rowing, kayaking, hiking, orienteering, visits to historical sites, padel tennis and much more. We also encourage everyone to try out for the school football and basketball teams.
We would like to wish you a safe and happy Summer and we look forward to seeing you on the 27th August 2025
Yours sincerely
DEBBIE O’NEILL PRINCIPAL
